Jeremiah Whetstone was born on 26 January 1790 the son of Ann Whetstone . He was baptized 05 February 1790 in Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire , England and later in life, worked as a market gardener or farmer.  

He married Esther Hickman on 11 July 1811 in Colne, Huntingdonshire , England . She was born on 13 December 1791 to William Hickman and Hannah Silk and baptized 13 December 1791 in Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire , England . 

Esther died 14 February 1861 and Jeremiah died 09 October 1863 in East Nissouri Township , Oxford County , Canada West. Together they are buried in the Lakeside Methodist Churchyard Cemetery .  

 Jeremiah and Esther along with four sons and a son's fiancé left England together and arrived in East Nissouri Township in June of 1846.
